New Kodak HD Flip Cam ROCKS! View Comments

Hey guys I am pretty juiced, because after reading tons of flip video camera reviews all over the web, I am heading to Best Buy right now to pick up my new Kodak Zi8 HD flip cam! I have been wanting to get one of these types on portable video cams for the last 2 years or so. But never took the plunge, because until now the flip cams only had the on board mic and no option to add a lapel mic until now! The Kodak Zi8 is the one to bring it to us! I can’t wait to test it out and finally start doing more video here on the blog. Right now I have been using my Cannon HV30 HD video cam but it is a little pain in the but to carry around and use on the go. So this will be alot easier and more fun!

If you have been reading flip video camera reviews like me, and you are on the fence to pick up a flip type video cam (I know Flip is a brand) then this is the one! Right now Best Buy is offering it at $179 which is nothing special. But, if you use your paypal account then they give you a $20 credit in (I think) 4-5 weeks. Also they are offering a FREE 4 GB Kodak SD Card as a bonus ($20 Value). Pretty cool! You can either have the whole thing shipped to you, or order it and pick it up at the store near you!

It would be great if I could just use this puppy for all my videos including the RockStar Secrets to Life VIP weekly Video Coaching program I launched 3 weeks ago!

Update: I just noticed Amazon and Best Buy have dropped the price to $149

Also here is the lapel mic I use for both my Cannon HV30 and my new Kodak Zi8

    Will do Jim, and I just got home with it. We hit the park first and then went to Best Buy to pick it up. It needs to charge for 2 hours and then im ready to rock it! I will post something tomorrow with it.

    Dr.Dan I just purchased the Zi8 thanks to you..Hopefully I get the memory card with it..you never know..Where do I get the label mic at and what kind should I get. What other items do you think I should get? Thank for everything man! You Rock!!

    Congrats Tim that is awesome! I just put the link to the lapel mic I use and it is only 25 bucks right now! Amazing value. You will also need a little case for it. I just used one of my hard shell sunglass cases and it fits great. You can also get a hard case that holds portable hard drives. You can get them at bestbuy for about 20. Or you can buy off ebay. Even amazon has some bu then you gotta guess the fit. I am happy with the fit in my sunglass case. I will post a pic of it here this week.

    The wide angle lens is too narrow to capture the whole image and the software that came with the camera is just mediocre. Actually I stopped using the Media Impression for Kodak since you don't really need it to cut and paste the files.

    I never got to play with the included software since I have a mac. I just drag the file off the cam and drop it into my imovie. But I love this little thing since I have it with me at all times. Got some good footage of it snwing in the Tracy Altimont. Looked like Tahoe with every square inch covered in snow. I will upload it this week.
